A fan going by Pester78 has submitted a new Monkey Island proposal to LEGO Ideas, the platform where fans pitch their own LEGO sets.

Welcome to my tribute to the first 2 chapters of the epic saga of Monkey Island: a double-sided build packed with familiar faces, strange discoveries, and absolutely no guarantee that anything can be solved by using common sense.

One side shows an island landscape with towering cliffs, a winding staircase up to the lookout and a small waterfront. The other is a multi-level diorama featuring the tavern, the Voodoo Lady's corner and Stan's, all crowned by the Giant Monkey Head. Guybrush Threepwood, Elaine Marley, LeChuck, Stan and the Voodoo Lady all appear, and the creator has hidden Easter eggs throughout, including a nod to the classic point-and-click commands.

This follows the Giant Monkey Head proposal I covered in 2024, which didn't go on to become a set.

The proposal was submitted today and has 131 supporters so far. It needs 10,000 to be reviewed by LEGO and possibly become an official product. If you'd like to see it happen, you can support it on the proposal page.

A fan working under the name Boingus has released an unofficial remaster of Escape from Monkey Island. Five years in the making, it upscales the game’s visuals, building on tools such as ScummVM and Quick And Easy Software. Windows only for now.

A full playthrough with no commentary is due over the coming weeks.

It's been a while since the last post here, not since October, but there hasn’t been much Monkey Island news going around and this was too good not to share.

The concept artist behind the Guybrush Threepwood figurine included in the Monkey Island 30th Anniversary Anthology has shared her original drawings on Reddit.

Artist Feli Tomkinson revealed she designed the roughly 15cm resin Guybrush figurine bundled with the 2020 collector’s set, and shared three early sketches.

In the comments, she clarified her role: design only, with the client approving the final pose and overseeing the 3D rendering. She noted that had she overseen it through to the final details, she’d have adjusted the pose and expression for a bit more punch.

More than two years ago, five members of the Return to Monkey Island development team joined an AMA (Ask Me Anything) at the Developer Conference 2023 (devcom) in Cologne, Germany. Until now, the video of that session had never been publicly available.
