Do I have to play the whole game to get to the Monkey Island crossover?
No, you'll be able to access it directly. This is achieved by heading to the Capsize Charters on any Outpost and voting on the Tall Tale journal. Once it's activated you'll have to sail through the Tunnel of the Damned. There's a nice short tutorial by Spammals where he explains all these in detail.
Can I play the second or third instalment without completing the previous ones?
While it is possible to play the second or third installment without completing the previous ones, playing them in order provides a better experience.
